My name is Rung-Hung Gau and I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. I got my B.S. degree from Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1994. In 1997, I got my M.S. degree from Department of Electrical Engineering, University of California at Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. In 2001, I got my Ph.D. degree from School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, U.S.A.
Currently, I am a Professor and the Director of the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Before I joined NCTU in 2009, I was a Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
My research focuses on the design, performance analysis, and optimization of wireless communications and computer networking. I have been working on various research topics including multicast flow control, mobility management in wireless cellular networks, cross-layer design for medium access control with queueing in wireless networks, physical-layer security, social network analysis with big data, M2M communications for IoT, and service chain provisioning with NFV in SDN. I am working on 5G wireless communications and AI/deep machine learning.
